For the past several years, B'nai Or has been experimenting with ways of integrating members into our community and involving them in committees and projects. To accomplish this, a system of communal Tribes was developed. Members are assigned to respective Tribes, usually determined by the member's geographical location.

In addition to gathering for various social events and occasions, Tribes are also assigned the responsibility of the mitzvot of opening and closing our service site and the coordination of Shabbat onegs (refreshments after the service) throughout the year.

Twice yearly, usually around Hanukkah and early Spring, the leadership of the community sets aside time for Tribes to gather in celebration. The first of these gatherings is scheduled for the weekend of December 9-11, 2011 when each tribe will "WELCOME" its new members. If you don't know, or are unsure of which tribe you are assigned to, please contact Tribe Coordinator, Liz Brenner.
